Goals and Resolutions

A goal needs to be specific or you'll never know how to accomplish it or even if you've accomplished it.

I'm journaling--irregularly, but at least I'm doing it--so I have a record of my thoughts from Jan 1 of 2010. This is the first year I've ever done a really good job of sticking to one journal. It's the leather one from Keri. And I'm really proud of myself for actually FILLING it. Well, 6 pages blank, but that's nothing! And if I hadn't had it to look back at, I wouldn't have realized that this was actually a very good year in spite of some ill health/injury this time last year.

Reviewing my resolutions from last year I realized that I accomplished almost none of them. But new goals came along and I feel I've had a very successful year. One of my favorite sayings is that even when you're on the right track, if you're standing still you'll get run over. So I'll continue to make resolutions and then change them as my circumstances change. I also have to recognize that not all goals will be achieved in a year. I can break them up into smaller components, with the added benefit of seeing progress a bit at a time.

Happy New Year
